I got Palestine’s flag!

07 January, 2009

Yesterday few of sharjah & Dubai residents participated in the silent protest held at am phi theater located in Dubai Media City…attendees lit candles & held the flags…for the first time in my life I participate in such a gathering showing solidarity to people in Gaza Strip... its an overwhelming feeling…was so lovely to see some non-Arab faces carrying some pictures of Gaza’s Massacre …although it’s a nice gesture from the volunteers who organized the event but things could have been better by having a planned program. The most important thing I feel happy about is the small flag I got….i even brought it with me to work.

Meanwhile I’m uploading more pictures on my blog, msn profile, & facebook along with sending some e-mails to all my contacts to let the world see the unseen truth….pictures speak a thousand word don’t they say so
I’m so terrified as I can see no end to this barbaric war…they hit every living spot…they bombed schools, mosques, houses, factories…it’s one of the dirtiest ethical cleansing wars ever….& the world enjoys seeing the Palestinian blood,
innocent victims falling everyday
unbelievable destruction,
children’s bodies torn into pieces
chemical weapons used against disarmed civilians
abolition of the human kind…
and the world remains silent!

I feel like singing Mawtini….
Here is the lyrics…sing with me & pass it on …beautiful words…

Hey salaams!

You know what is funny - all the people who are NOT supporting Israel are taking a sensible approach and writing logically about the truth.

All those supporting Israel seem to be counter attacking nothing else...

Goes to show - they have everything to hide!

Do you really believe that what Israel is doing in Gaza is US funded terrorism?

I admit that I do not know all of the details. And, I sincerely think Israel is reacting with massively disproportionate force.

But terrorism?

So... The protestors sincerely believe that Israel is systematically using terror as a means of coercion?

And they believe Israel is intentionally targeting non-combatants as the means to terrify?

And they believe that Israel is performing these acts with an ideological motive rather than a punitive one?

And they also believe that all of this is being done with funding provided from US tax payers?

Those are four very strong assumptions. I understand wanting the carnage to stop, and taking to the street with a placard in hand, especially when one is distraught and concerned about the safety of loved ones.

But surely the people in those photos do not seriously believe that the US is willfully funding a foreign government to intentionally target civilians with military force because of an ideological or religious belief. Do they?

I am curious as to if that is how you and others sincerely feel? That is not the opinion of the folks I associate with.

I think the most Americans would be horrified and one billion times more supportive of the Palestinian cause if they believed what that placard said.

So, where is the disconnect?

i find your use of the word "lovely" chilling..

i think the people of gaza deserve solidarity.. i wish they did something when their government was throwing thousands of missiles at us..

i wish at the same time that my government took a more mature approach to conflict resolution..

but i do believe that we tried..

i want the killing of gazans to stop whether or not i view them as innocent..
