If your religion does not change you, change your religion

**** If your religion does not change you, change your religion****

An inspiring quote I came across yesterday….its by Elbert Hubbard..
I have been thinking a lot about this sentence ….my sister threw some comments last night when she said
you are not in need of us…nor do we …but remember that one day you will be asked about your deeds!!

Shall women compromise in the name of religion?
Shall I surrender submit ….accept the current situation & tolerate more shit because allah will punish me if I wanna go against the current flow!!! So surprising that she wants me to experience what she has gone through! Advocates of misery!

I’m just asking when can religion become a burden on Mankind!! So would you change your religion if it didn’t change you!

I think so many cultural customs have been masked with the religion, and I guess it is one such custom which is the reason behind your anger. Don;t blame the religion, blame the people who consider themselves the "guardians" of the religion

Couldn't agree more with the precedent commentator. And in addition to all that manipulative sh!# they have planted in our brains, they have identified faith with religion, which is so wrong, one has nothing -or at least not too much- to do with the other. On the other hand.. if you do not respect those "guardians", how can you respect the whole faith system? I mean, how many times haven't we wondered that, if/since god exists, how can he/she/it/whatever let all these wrong -to say the very least- ppl speak for his/her/its/whatever name and form beliefs and societies? Makes you feel like an outcast either way.

I would have loved if you would have elaborated more on this blog. I dont understand what you mean when you say
"Shall I surrender submit ….accept the current situation & tolerate more shit because allah will punish me if I wanna go against the current flow!!!"
What do you mean by this. From what I am reading in your blogs, i notice you are a student working on your masters degree. So are you saying that if you go against the norms of society which do not encourage women to study then you will be punished by Allah?

Hi,
I'm a US student attending the University of Vermont and taking a class on Gender in the Middle East, which is what lead me to your blog.
It is so heart wrenching to read your accounts of those relatives you lost and who sustained great damage in the Israeli attacks on Gaza. It's one thing to see pictures and read about it in the news, but to have actual relatives and friends in danger and being harmed is unthinkable to me.
Your thoughts on religion are intriguing as well. Should you put up with and submit to certain imposed rules simply because of your faith? Are the changes your religion creates in you the right kind? These are of course answers that I cannot answer for you and you must discover on your own, and the very fact you are raising them shows you to be a free thinker, and I respect that a great deal.
Have a great day!
-Corey

Religion has a lot to offer when one as an individual follows certain principles on his/her own will.

Any religion which dictates that its followers must follow the "teachings" blindly is similar to slavery and oppression. Religios teachings must be subject to dialogue and change. Something written by man in the name of GOD several centuries ago has no bearing on the future.

I changed my religion so long time ago...

Ur a refreshing person..

take it or leave it . its your choice. religion is not a product of yours. its by GOD. so you cant change it. if you are not happy with the religuion just leave it.
